Madame Blue Eyes

When I was in Paris I saw this woman leaning against the wall entrance into the Rodan Museum - I was completely captivated by her blue eyes that I had to paint her!  I thought this would be a perfect post to celebrate National Arist Day!

Remembering Matthew Shepard

Matthew Shepard  40x38 oil on canvas

I was in Art School when Matthew Shepard's life was taken so tragically Oct 12, 1998 because he was gay.  I was so distraught over this hate crime that it compelled me to paint this painting -- which says it all if you are familiar with his story.

With all the recent news about the 6 boys who's lives also ended early because of bullying and hate crimes I felt the need to address it here on my blog by posting this painting.....

Rejuvenate Me

18x24 oil on canvas.  Click here to purchase.  I changed up a few things while creating this painting.  First were the color choices in my palette - I really wanted to use more muted colors, ones that were soft and monochromatic.  And secondly, I used  a palette knife more than a brush!  Very unusual for me but I have to say it loosened me up and forced me to work the whole canvas!  I'd love to hear any comments you may have!  Thanks for looking!
